Our Past...
So many times we find ourselves in a quiet space when God
speaks to us. Other times though, it is as if God has had a continuous tug on
our heart for our entire lives. Bill and Carrie Mulder have felt a similar
calling for longer than they can remember. They started their lives out
together in full time ministry. After some time, Bill felt God speaking to him
to enter into the professional world to impact people in a new and different
way. Throughout this change God blessed their faithfulness and enlarged their
impact where they lived. Their desire to be able to affect the young
professional age group began to come alive in this period. They started their
small group with just two guys and two worship leaders. It was just amazing.
Sometimes they would just meet with the worship leaders because no one else
showed up. No matter the number, Bill and Carrie have spent these nights in
worship and prayer seeking God’s will. They had no idea where this group would
go but it was not their desire to have a huge group, but, that God would be
glorified and lives would be changed. Over the years this group has grown and
changed a lot. One thing has remained the same though, the heart of worship.
God is the center of the group and not any leader or speaker. The name “Incite”
was chosen in the last few years as the name that best described the desire of
this group- “God focused worship without personalities.” There are plenty of
people out their making a name for themselves and Incite’s desire is to make a
name for God. God says that if He be lifted up He will draw all men unto
Himself and change their lives, that is Incite’s desire.
Our Present...
After almost 7 years of meeting now the group has fluctuated
between 60 and 200. The group is currently comprised college focused
20-somethings, but it has fluctuated from a career focused people and back
again many times. It is an amazing mix of people that have a deep desire to
give their lives to God and worship Him for all that He has and will do in
their lives. “Incite” is going through some changes now. We are becoming more
independent than we have been before. As the group has grown we have realized
that “Incite” is a group in addition to, not in competition with, our personal
commitments to our local churches. We are also changing our schedule to meeting
the first and third week of every month. The main reason for this change is
that we want to take what God has been doing here and bring it to other
locations throughout the country. This new venture is not completely clear yet
but as we gain our independence as a group we know that it will become clear as
to what God’s will is for this group and our future. One thing we do know is
that this group’s focus is WORSHIP, and we believe that any action in life
should be worship to God. He called us to serve others as we would serve Him so
as this group expands we believe God is going to have plans for people from all
backgrounds.
